My first review is going to be about a book that I loved so much.
Let’s just spare a moment to look at the cover. It is truly interesting, now, I read the book a long time ago and I am holding it in my hands right this moment. It is a huge and heavy paperback, I can honestly say that it is the biggest book in my whole bookshelf AND it is paperback, which makes it unusual. Now lets get to the review.
There were four main characters introduced in the first chapter: Abby, America, Shapley and Travis. They are all one of my most favorite characters that I have ever read about, they are new, fresh and funny.
Abbey- she has recently moved to a new school with her best friend America and America’s boyfriend Shapley. She (obviously) soon meets Travis who is Shapley’s best friend and they make a bet.
I thought that Abbey was a good and strong character, she never came across as boring or too weak, her character develops through the book quickly and by the end she really shows off her strong side through series of events that happen. The romance between her and Travis is a bit too obsessive, she doesn’t really seem to care so much for him, but Travis is literary obsessed with her, that put me off a bit. She also gains a nickname from Travis which I think really made the story more realistic.
America-She was great throughout the book, I love her original name and her relationship with both Shapley and Abbey wasn’t annoying. We don’t really get to see a lot of character development, but she definitely grows up to be a very mature girl who at the beginning wasn’t so much.
Shapley-I enjoyed him a lot, liked how protective he was to Abbey and America, I think he is the perfect best friend nothing more to say. Although he is the best friend of Travis he isn’t the type that follows him around, Shapley still has his own opinions that make a lot of difference in the book.
Travis-Ok, where to start? Travis was the second best bad boy I have read (nobody can beat Patch from Hush-Hush). He was very irrotational and bold at the beginning, but I could really feel that inside he is protective and nice. He is very well known as the one-night stand which makes all the girls go crazy for him. Abbey happens to really mess this guys bad side up by the end of the book, which I found irritating, he suddenly became very good. We also get to find out about his family and his affection for them.
The plot was great, it was just perfect for me. It quickly went into the story and didn’t leave me questioning anything that happens, it has its action towards the end and obviously the tension which is created by Travis and Abbey when they are having their cute moments (eye roll).
It wasn’t too bad, as I said before it was a bit obsessive from Travis’s side, but didn’t lack jealousy from Abbey ether, I loved the whole humor side of it. I know what you are thinking right now. Of course you can’t have a love relationship without sex, they both have some steamy scenes together just like Shapley and America (their sex noises were described in a very funny way).
Some of the songs that I listened to when read this book:
Nirvana-Girls, Ed Sheeran- Kiss Me, Stop the clocks-L.A.
I give it ★★★★ stars out of five. It deserved 5, but some thing just lacked for me.
